Are you feeling uncertain about which type of online continuing education course to take? At Elevate Continuing Education, we offer two different types of online courses: Live Webinar (via Zoom) continuing education workshops and Recorded Webinar (On-Demand) trainings. Below we'll break down the major similarities and differences between these two course types, and highlight some of the key benefits of each.
Live Webinar Continuing Education Workshops
Our Live Webinar trainings are live, real-time, and interactive – they are not pre-recorded. Some state licensing boards call these courses synchronous trainings. They take place on a specified date and time and require attendance and participation to earn continuing education credits. Attendees who are registered for a Live Webinar will receive the Zoom codes and additional instructions for accessing the training 2-3 days prior to the Workshop. Training handouts are sent one day prior to the training.
Live Webinars offer a number of benefits to mental health professionals seeking continuing education. First and foremost, they provide an opportunity to learn in real-time from experienced instructors who can answer questions and provide feedback on the spot. This can be particularly valuable for professionals who are seeking to improve their skills or knowledge in a specific area and need general guidance from an expert.
In addition, Live Webinars can provide a more engaging and interactive learning experience than pre-recorded webinar trainings. Participants can interact by asking questions directly to the presenter, participate in polls, and chat/see feedback from other attendees. This can help to reinforce the learning and make the experience more enjoyable and memorable.
Finally, Live Webinar workshops provide the opportunity to earn live/interactive/synchronous CE credits which count as in-person CE Credit hours for many licensing boards. Always check with your licensing board to determine how various CE activities are categorized.

Recorded Webinar Trainings
Our Recorded Webinars are self-paced courses that allow professionals to learn on their own schedule and at their own pace. Once registered for a Recorded Webinar, you will have immediate access to the online training. After you register for the training, please log into your Dashboard here: https://courses.elevatece.com/users/sign_in When you register, you will create a login for the Online Learning Academy - remember this login information as you will need it to access your Recorded Webinar On-Demand course.
Recorded Webinars are video-based and provide a similar level of content as the Live Webinar workshops. Although they are pre-recorded and do not offer the same level of interactivity or feedback as the live workshops, many participants enjoy the Recorded Webinar courses because they can rewatch lessons and have course access for 1 year.
One of the biggest benefits of Recorded Webinar trainings is their flexibility. You can complete the training on your own schedule, and from anywhere you have an internet connection. This can be particularly valuable for those who have busy schedules or cannot attend a live workshop due to geographic or scheduling constraints.
In order to receive CE Credits, participants are required to watch the videos in order, complete quizzes after each lesson, and receive a passing score of 80% on each quiz in order to move onto the next chapter and ultimately complete the training. At the end of the training, the final step is to complete the course evaluation. After this, your certificate will immediately be available to view and download.
Our Recorded Webinars offer credits that are categorized as online self-study/self-paced/asynchronous. Each licensing board categorizes these types of trainings differently. Some boards place them into categories and only allow a certain number of credits to be earned from this category (for example, Maryland Social Work Board counts these as Category II and limits them to 20 CEs per renewal). Some states allow licensees to complete all of their required CE credits via Recorded Webinars. Check with your state board to determine how they categorize Recorded On-Demand Webinars.
