CE Credit and License Renewal Information Page

Idaho accepts Elevate CE's credits for social workers.

The Idaho Board of Social Work Examiners accepts continuing education provided by professional associations. The rule is stated as follows:  "Professional Associations. Continuing education hours may be obtained by participating in activities sponsored by or approved by professional associations." Elevate Continuing Education, #1816, formerly Maryland CEU Institute is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.


Elevate Continuing Education has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No.7347. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Elevate Continuing Education is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

2025 License Renewal Information

Renewal Deadline: Rolling (based on birth month)

Renewal Frequency: Every two years

How many CEs do Idaho social workers need for renewal?

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW): 30 Total CE Hours every two years

  • Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW):  30 Total CE Hours every two years

  • Licensed  Social Worker (LSW):  30  Total CE Hours every two years

SPECIAL TOPIC REQUIREMENTS (required for all licensure levels)

  • 2 Hours in Ethics

Can I take my CEs from Elevate CE?

YES! Idaho social workers can earn all of their required CE credits through Elevate Continuing Education each year. You can complete your hours through any combination of live or pre-recorded CE webinars offered by Elevate CE, making it a flexible and convenient option to meet your requirements.


Elevate CE is an approved provider through the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) ACE program. The Idaho Board of Social Work accepts courses approved through ASWB.

Idaho Social Work CE Requirement Statutes

This information below has been obtained directly from the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses Website and is current as of January 2025. Please visit here for full information and details.

Continuing Education. To renew or return to active status, licensees must complete during the preceding twenty-four (24) months, and retain proof of completion for four (4) years, of thirty (30) hours of continuing education, two (2) hours of which must be in professional ethics and the remainder germane to the practice of social work. CE hours may be obtained for preparing and providing germane continuing education or training to other professionals and for individual research projects. Courses that are part of the curriculum of an accredited university, college or other educational institution are allotted CE credit at the rate of fifteen (15) CE hours for each semester hour or ten (10) CE hours for each quarter hour of school credit awarded
