Massachusetts accepts Elevate CE's credits for social workers.

The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Workers includes courses offered by Association of Social Work Board Approved Continuing Education Providers (ACE) to be on their list of approved courses. Massachusetts Social Work Continuing Education Requirements

2024 License Renewal Information

Renewal Deadline: Every 2 Years on Even Years Based on Licensees DOB

Renewal Frequency: Every 2 years in even years

Continuing Education Requirements:


Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
  • CE Hours Required: 15 Hours every two years

  • Specific Topic Requirements:

    • 2 hours in anti-racism with a focus on oppression

    • 1 Hour one  in anti-discrimination, addressing oppression because of ethnicity, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, political belief, religion, immigration status, and/or mental or physical ability.


Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW)
  • CE Hours Required: 20 Hours every two years

  • Specific Topic Requirements:

    • 2 hours in anti-racism with a focus on oppression

    • 1 Hour one  in anti-discrimination, addressing oppression because of ethnicity, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, political belief, religion, immigration status, and/or mental or physical ability.

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
  • CE Hours Required: 30 Hours every two years

  • Specific Topic Requirements:

    • 2 hours in anti-racism with a focus on oppression

    • 1 Hour one  in anti-discrimination, addressing oppression because of ethnicity, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, political belief, religion, immigration status, and/or mental or physical ability.


Licensed Social Work Associate (LSWA)
  • CE Hours Required: 10 Hours every two years

  • Specific Topic Requirements:

    • 2 hours in anti-racism with a focus on oppression

    • 1 Hour one  in anti-discrimination, addressing oppression because of ethnicity, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, political belief, religion, immigration status, and/or mental or physical ability.

How many of the required renewal credits for Massachusetts Social Workers must be Live (synchronous) vs. Pre-Recorded (asynchronously)?

The Massachusetts Board of Social Work does not limit the number of CE hours to either format. You can choose any combination of live (synchronous) and pre-recorded (asynchronous) courses to meet your CE requirements. Elevate CE offers both Live Webinars (synchronous) courses and Recorded Webinars (Pre-recorded asynchronous) courses to fulfill Massachusetts Social Workers' CE requirements.

Elevate CE is an approved provider through the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
